The Big Belt House Architect: William E. Massie

The topography of “big sky” Montana was digitally mapped to from the concrete arched ribs of the house.

Digital data fed a milling machine to make almost 1550 jigsaw puzzle-like pieces of rigid foam, the form work for the concrete construction.

The foam pieces were taken to the site and assembled. The foam pieces fit together like a puzzle, later it was recycled.
